It may be hard to believe as we have been told our whole lives to brush our teeth daily, and even as much as after every meal. But did you know overbrushing is also bad for your dental health?
Over-brushing is defined as brushing your teeth too vigorously or for too long, which can cause :
-Swollen or red gums after brushing
-Teeth appearing to become longer
-Sensitivity to cold, sweet, or hot food
-A damaged toothbrush
Brushing for two minutes twice a day is recommended, using a soft-bristled toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste. Additionally, it’s also good to use toothpaste with low abrasion.
Call Santaquin Dentistry, or visit us online at santaquindentistry.com to schedule an appointment if you have any of the results listed above. We will help you learn better brushing habits and get your dental health back where it should be.
