What do the letters after the dentist's name Signify?
Patients frequently ask us what the F.A.G.D. after some of our doctor’s names mean? Great question!
Drs. Francis, Marshall, and Swenson all have D.D.S. and F.A.G.D. after their names.
Achieving Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry (FAGD) is one of the few added distinctions a general dentist can achieve. Only 7 percent of general dentists in the U.S. have achieved this honor.
The Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) is the only professional association serving the general dentist.
To earn Fellowship in the AGD, dentists must take more than 500 hours of educational courses in various disciplines. Candidates must also pass a rigorous exam covering sixteen different dental disciplines. The award is then presented to general dentists in a formal graduation ceremony. To learn more about this award or the AGD, visit www.agd.org
Dr. Shaw and Dr. Gailbraith have D.M.D. after her name.
The D.D.S. (Doctor of Dental Surgery) and D.M.D. (Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry or Doctor of Dental Medicine) are the same degrees. The universities decide which title to pronounce when awarding a degree.
All of our dentists attend ongoing continual education courses to offer you the best care with cutting-edge training and technique.
